Dear Friend,
Welcome to Miss Peggy’s Corner.
It often begins with a look through the window.
A bird catches my eye. Something moves among the trees. The light falls differently across the landscape, or an unexpected visitor appears.
And I wonder: what is happening out there today?
That is what The View From My Window is all about.
The window gives me the first glimpse, but curiosity often takes me beyond it. It encourages me to step outside, go on a walkabout and look a little closer.
Along the way there are birds and animals to meet, small mysteries to investigate, and things about our natural world that I never knew before.
Here in Miss Peggy’s Corner, I’ll share some of those discoveries with you — beginning with the simple act of looking out the window and wondering what might be waiting beyond it.
Perhaps it will encourage you to look beyond your own window too.

The View from My Window
I've Never Seen Anything Like Him Before
Dear friend,
This afternoon I looked out of my little window and had to look twice.
Walking slowly across the garden was the most unusual little chicken I have ever
seen.
I've watched birds for many years, but I had never seen one dressed quite like this.
From one angle he looked as though he were wearing a grand feathered coat.
Then he turned around, and his tail became the centre of attention.
A few more steps and it was his wonderfully untidy hairstyle that made me smile.
It was the very same little visitor.
Only each step seemed to reveal another surprise.
I found myself wondering how many beautiful things we miss simply because we
only take one quick look.
Sometimes nature invites us to stay a little longer.
To watch.
To observe.
To discover.
By the time my unusual visitor wandered away behind the shrubs, I was smiling.
Not because he had done anything remarkable...
But because, for a few quiet minutes, he reminded me that there is always
something new to discover if we take the time to look a little closer.
Perhaps that is one of the reasons I enjoy this little window so much.
I never know who might come to visit.
The kettle will be on, and I'll be watching
