Dear Friend,
Welcome to Walkabout Australia.
Australia is a remarkable land of ancient forests,
rugged coastlines, open grasslands, quiet bush
tracks and endless skies. Yet some of its most
memorable discoveries are often found close to
home - beneath a familiar tree, beside a peaceful
creek, or in the company of birds that have become
our neighbours.
Every photograph shared here has been taken
during my own walkabouts. Some adventures are
close to home; others take me a little farther afield.
Together they are an invitation to slow down, look
carefully and notice the beauty around us.
One special place you will come to know is our
Rain Tree, where birds gather, seasons quietly
unfold and everyday moments become lasting
memories.
Whether you enjoy photography, wildlife, native
plants or simply a peaceful walk, I hope these
pages encourage you to step outside and see
Australia through fresh eyes.
There is always another path to explore and another story waiting just around the bend.

Who Is Watching Whom?

Jill was out walking around her property when she came across this little welcoming committee.
Or perhaps they came across her.
One by one, the cattle stopped what they were doing and turned to look. Nobody seemed particularly worried. They simply appeared very interested in the visitor carrying the camera.
So Jill did what any good wanderer would do.
She stopped too — and took their photograph.
There is something lovely about walking through familiar country. You don’t always need a destination or something spectacular to find. Sometimes an ordinary walk gives you a moment that makes you smile.
